Proof that technology is unpredictable sometimes! We have used Facebook Live with out clients several times this year. Living in Alaska can be a challenge. Not only is WiFi access sparse compared to places like New York, LA, or even Anchorage, half the time we can’t even get a stable 4G (if we get signal at all)! But that didn’t stop us from commemorating the Inaugural FBX Bike Party coordinated by Jennifer Eskridge and John Stowman of Fairbikes Bike Sharing and Working INC. This Luau themed party took riders on an 8-10 mile ride through downtown Fairbanks.
Let the biking season begin! Our unseasonably early spring allowed Fairbikes to roll out their bike sharing program early this year. They kicked things off with #FairbikesFirstFriday, a celebration of biking mixed with an artistic flair. We interviewed John Stowman and Jennifer Eskridge about the program.
I’m addicted to TED Talks. I revealed this a few years back during KUAC‘s annual fund drive pitching–you guessed it– the TED Radio Hour. The addiction is so real I once threatened to stop cooking Thanksgiving Dinner if they changed my streaming playlist to football. No joke.
Thankfully, I am not alone. The Hub, a downtown venue that opened recently, holds a weekly TED Talk discussion group. We watch a couple episodes and then
ruminate on ideas and inspirations that came to mind during the feature lecture. Sometimes the conversations are very focused on the talk themselves, sometimes discussions branch off into brainstorming sessions or debates. No week is ever the same.
